Buying Property In Florida

Florida  Florida

Back in the day, when I was around 11 years old, my father took me to Disney World in Florida. This vacation was a total blast. I remember it well even to this day, 20 years later. And you want to know what else I remember. Florida was mad hot and as humid as they come. I bring this up because so many people tell me how they're going to retire and move to Florida. All I have to say is, if you are buying property in Florida, you'd better love the sticky heat. It's funny, but many people don't truly grasp this reality until they get there. They laugh it off and say "Sure, I like the heat just fine." Before you know it, they're crawling back, griping about the terrible humidity down south.

There is always plenty to go around. Regardless of where you wish to live, I think that there's always room for one more. There's only one factor at-hand here. It's the money. If you have enough of it, you can live where ever you please. Take South Beach for instance. I know an architect who lives down there. He started buying property in Florida back in the early 90s. Needless to say, real estate has gone up along with every other cost of living. He made a fortune when he sold the first house he had purchased down there. There's always some newbie shooting into town, searching for a summer home or idea spot to retire in. After all, cost of living is only relative to what you're used to. If you've got someone coming out of Manhattan, who paid millions for their home, they suddenly think 800,000 is cheap. Next thing you know, they're buying property in Florida and living the good life.

I have to admit, you won't catch me buying property in Florida. I've seen the area, and although it's beautiful and seductive in the right parts, I didn't like the school systems at all. If you have children, I wouldn't recommend buying property in Florida. Unless it's just a summer retreat. Oh, and try to remember; if you've never experienced Florida humidity, I'd get a taste of it before you pack up all your belongings in a U-haul and head out.
